Blog Entry 1---Draft 2

Media exploitation has become a practice that the public is so accustom to that it isn't really seen as "exploitation". The word exploitation, rightfully so, has a negative connotation attached to it; exploitation is deliberate exposure. In relation to media, exploitation is the deliberate exposure of celebrity; common forms of media exploitation are recognizable through media emphasis on the pits and faults of celebrity, mistakes, divorces, wardrobe mishaps etc. It's hard not to conclude that media exploitation is subjected commonly to women in the media. The study of the, 'Art of Fame' came from international superstar, Lady Gaga (60 Minutes), who suggests that there is a way in which celebrities [women] who are famous can control and perfect the art of fame---this comes at the expense of art-directing aspects of their career and lives that prove to be more "entertaining" than their vulnerabilities---which are so commonly exploited in the media. As a woman, exploitation is something that becomes all too familiar as we are expected to be, dress and act a certain way that fits into 'society's standards' of what 'a woman should be'. The 'Art of Fame' masters the outwitting of media exploitation at the expense of their demise.

  1. I like how you defined the "Art of Fame" but I think you could put it more into your own words. I know this is a class assignment but its also a blog I don't sense any personality from you as a writer or a person. I don't know why this particular topic is interesting to you or why you care at all or even why I should care as a reader. You should try to include these things on your next draft. Another thing to consider is how you chose to research and examine this topic. After reading draft two I don't know what your line of inquiry is, i know where the idea of art of fame came from but that is not quenching my thirst and curiosity of your line of inquiry or more about the art of fame as a whole. My overall suggestion for this entry is to become more personal. The entry seems very report-like.

  2. 1)Ilearned that media exploitation has a negative connotation attached to it. The media puts a focus on the negative acts associated with celebrities as opposed to highlighting their accomplishments.

2)I would like to know some ways in which celebrities are working to take the medias focus off of their faults and place it on their accomplishments.

3)The over view is elequently written so that the topic is focused on and the problems associated with it are exposed.

4)I would like to know why the focus is placed on the negative actions of celebrities. What is the reason for this. How does society play a role in where the focus is placed.

    5) I like the overall idea alot
